Scott the science guy gave lessons on the water cycle and then on air. I missed most of the water cycle lesson, other than the pictures of the habitat. After the lesson on air, the girls and Scott each built a parachute by themselves and then we launched them from the upper deck. After some trial runs, some added eggs. Scott's successfully landed an egg but Alaina's egg splat. Layla, by herself, went inside to make some alterations on her parachute. She came out with an egg "comfortably" wrapped in duck tape and attached to her parachute. Alyse is launching the yellow taped egg in the first collage- it landed safely. I just love to see each of their brains work, their creativity, and independence.
Our insulation experiment
They put their hand into an empty plastic baggy (to keep their hand dry) and put it into ice water- burrr! Next, they put their hand into a ziploc mit filled with crisco and into the ice water- ahh, comfortable! Crisco, fat, or blubber is an insulator to the cold.
