Weekend Happenings

Last Friday Alyse, Lexi, and Scott were off and Layla and Alaina were finally over the flu, so after partent teacher conferences, we headed out to explore.  Our first stop was the Money Museum.  We saw coins worth $4 million, civil war displays, etc. but the most interesting part was the "errored money," like a $20 on the front and a $10 on the back and such and when we left the kids got to pick a coin out of a treasure box (they actually got to touch something and all the foreign money was interesting to see).  I have no pictures because when I got out my camera I had a securtity gaurd right there saying "No Mamm," I totally missed the sign about absolutely no photography!

Our next stop was the Peterson AFB Air & Space Museum.  The main office is the orignal Colorado Springs Air Terminal from the 1920s, it's very small though and doesn't have much in it.  Most of the museum is in a hangar but there happened to be a retirement ceremony going on and so we couldn't go in.  Instead the volunteer gave us a special tour of this reconisance air plane flown in WWII.  The girls had to promise him they wouldn't touch anything and afterwards he told us we had perfectly behaved girls (he should have heard Layla scream though the entire Money Museum!)

This is the board that the crew members on Alyse's side had to write backwards on so the person on the other side could read it.

I think we finished just in time!

And Layla's car nap

We finished the day with making pizza, watching Enchanted with popcorn and M&Ms, and a family camp-in in the living room!

Saturday we made Valentine sugar cookies- YUM!
