October 1st Scott was notified at the end of his shift at the bookstore that they were eliminating all student hours from the schedule until the end of the semester due to being $70,000 under in sales this semester, effective immediately. So not exactly a layoff, but he doesn't get any hours, so all the same and after getting laid off Aug 1st in North Dakota... well it's a good thing we have plasma! We now get the full college experience of selling our plasma twice a week. but will graduate with no debt! :)
Our October started off with General Conference. A weekend of hearing from our Prophet, Apostles, and General Authorities... such a blessing! and a weekend of good food! Our conference traditions include lots of yummy things to eat... it's part of why the kids LOVE conference weekends. We made a french toast casserole that was to die for!

Audrey's CUTE worm! So the picture doesn't show the worm in her hands, but Audrey carried it around and told everyone it was cute!
Pocatello's hospital opened a new "wellness center park" with a fun playground that has lots crazy spinning things, a lake, a huge outdoor amphitheater, trails, and fields. It's fun... but I have to say it's sad that they have so much surplus from over charging patients to spend on such a thing!
Layla was sick after just a while of spinning things. Alaina had a headache and didn't sleep so great that night. I don't think either will spin so much next time!
Audrey at it again, this time a red marker, luckily not on any furniture or walls!
I had been reading aloud "An Enchanted Castle" by E. Nesbit to the kids. In the story the children had made "uggly wugglies" which were clothes over hangers, umbrellas, hockey stick, etc. and stuffed with blankets to be their audience for a play the children put on. When Scott came home, Landon took him down stairs and wanted him to build a guy with clothes. Scott had never heard of an "ugly wuggly" before, but helped Landon to form this guy. Landon brought us the rest of us down to show us the surprise. We all recognized it as an "ugly wuggly" right off. Audrey was terrified of it for a long time! Then Lexi and Alaina took off to play and Alyse, Layla, and Landon got the idea of putting someone in it. So they put Layla into the guy. When Lexi and Alaina came back into the room, the "ugly wuggly" started to move! It was hilarious. I have great home videos of this that will be priceless in 10 years! This "ugly wuggly" entertained us for at least an hour full of laughs!
Pumpkin Carving!
Audrey being Audrey while we carved pumpkins... she helped spread guts all over the patio too.
creepy smiles
Glowing Jack-O-Latterns
Scott and the kids had fun with the camera taking ghostly pictures!
Other random happy days on the trampoline and around enjoying the beautiful fall weather we are having. Scott's mom visited us for an afternoon and we took her to the Wellness Center and walked the trail around the lake and played at the playground then made yummy pizza.
We've laid out several nights on the trampoline to star gaze. We watched a meteor shower one night and the international space station going by the next few. We can see stars here, but we do miss the country sky with such a better view of the stars! I love beautiful starry nights in beautiful fall weather!
Alyse got a canine tooth "lasered" in at the orthodontist. A stubborn tooth that just stalled for about a year. It finally got close enough that they could removed the gum tissue over the tooth with a laser and hook on a small bracket... within a week, she had a full tooth! ouch. Lexi had her final consult and gets braces Dec 1!
It's already half way through week 9 of the 16 week semester! Scott's semester has been intense, especially last week. In lab he gets to draw people's blood, but they get to draw his... between that and selling plasma, he looks like a pincushion at times. Learning and doing the actual stuff he will be doing on the job has been good, but some of his teachers are anything but good teachers. Only 300 more parasites, bacteria, and viruses to memorize every crusted detail about and 1 1/2 semesters and an internship to go! not that we're counting down the days
